§ 01The brief

Over three weeks the client bought gold bars with most of his savings and handed them to couriers who came to his door with a 'case number'. A neighbour noticed the visits and asked questions.

§ 02What I did

  1. 1.

Helped the client stop all contact and report the next scheduled pickup to local police, who arrested the courier.

  2. 2.

Assembled the purchase receipts, call logs and courier descriptions for the police and the CCS report.

  3. 3.

Filed the FAE report and helped the family set up a trusted-contact arrangement with his bank.

§ 03The outcome

Police seized gold worth $380,000 from the courier's storage unit, and it was returned to the client after the court released it. The rest had been sold or moved.
